Like the other issues of TRANSITIONS, “The First Year and Beyond” offers the reader valuable information and a review of achievements made during the first year of bereavement. In addition to asking the reader to look back at the past year, we invite the reader to look ahead to the future and evaluate what has been learned or even gained in the process of working through the pain of loss. In light of the growth that many people experience in the first year, we offer the reader a list of ways in which he or she can reach out to others who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
